2013 More Than Just Weight Loss Week 5

Congratulations everyone, only 2 more weeks to go!

Here are the recommendations for week five.

Nutritionally:
  • Eliminate as many animal products as possible during this time
  • For Protein Types, you may need to eat a small amount of animal product once or twice per day
  • Be sure it is of the highest quality
  • Mixed Types may add an animal product as needed but no more than once per day
  • Veggie Types should have no issue due to the protein content of the ClearVite
Supplements:
  • Turmero Active - 5 ml (approx. 1 teaspoon) twice a day
  • Resvero Active - 5 ml (approx. 1 teaspoon) twice a day
  • Ultra-D Complex - 2 teaspoons twice a day
  • Hepato-Synergy – 1 packet twice daily
  • ClearVite - Days 8 thru 14
  • 1 serving daily before breakfast, lunch and dinner
Use your Nutritional ID meal plan as best as possible during this phase.

  1. Glen - one thing I wanted to clarify from the Webcast. Are there enough nutrients that we can use the ClearVite as a meal substitute in itself? Or do we need to eat something after that to make it a "meal" ?

    1. Yes, you can use this as a meal replacement. This is often the case for many with breakfast.

  2. Oh my gosh.. Talk about a test of will power!! First of all, I'm having to drive by my favorite Chicago pizza places all the time that I never get to go to and my mom lives across the street from one of my favorite, yummy Polish restaurants. Then, I make it through all this and what happens?? Today was "Fat Tuesday" or what the Chicago Polish community call "Paczki Day" (basically a day to indulge in a very yummy treat) -- and of course, my mom's neighbor comes over today with fresh baked Paczki from the Polish bakery!!! ughhhhhh Well... I did NOT cave in!! But oh... seriously... what a test of will power!! I thought my cravings weren't that bad until it was sitting right under my nose!

PS.. I need some tasty recipes for the next 2 weeks... quick! : )

    1. Yes, being from Chicago, I get it. Great job of staying strong. One thing for all of us to remember is that feeling amazing feels better than any food we can eat!

  3. I've read that damaged fats are very bad for you. I assume that means everything deep fried. My question is about baked veggie chips. They are still covered with oil and baked at high temperature. Is the fat damaged during this process, too? Are store bought veggie chips any good to eat? Would home made ones be any better? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You are correct. Damaged fats that are unsaturated fats are the biggest issue. These would include the vegetable based oils. Saturated fats such as coconut oil, dairy (if there is not an intolerance) and bacon grease as examples, do not change structure when they are heating because there are no broken bonds in saturated fats. I would not say that you have to completely eliminate the veggie chips and like all together, just don't make them a regular occurrence.

If you make them at home with coconut oil that would be much better.

  4. On vacation and just listened to webinar..you mentioned minimal animal protein on this phase. Is fish good for mixed type on this phase?

    1. Seafood works, but still keep this to a minimum and the highest quality available.

  5. I am feeling overwhelmed after listening to the webinar. I am not a good vegetable eater and now I can't eat meat. I shouldn't have a lot of fruit because of the sugar SOOO what does that leave me??? I have not cheated at all and I had the same problem as Jeannette. It was Paczki Day here in Chicago and everyone was eating donuts with fruit. I did not have one but NOW I am just feeling deprived. I don't think it helped that I didn't lose any weight last week. I still have my cold and that is making me tired and cranky. OK. Enough of the pity party. Thank you all for listening.

    1. Denise, what kind of "type" are you? Mixed, protein, veggie? Just curious. And congratulations on making it through yesterday. We did it!! Hope you feel better soon. I bet you'll feel alot better after your cold gets better too : )

    2. One of the things you can do to make the veggies more interesting is to mix in some fat. As an example, last night I fried a small amount of organic nitrate free bacon. Took this out when it was done and cooked a generous amount of broccoli in the bacon grease. I cut up the bacon into small pieces and added this to the broccoli when it was almost done. This with a little natural salt and pepper made a really tasty dish. Mostly veggies with a very small amount of meat and the great taste of fat.

Sucks with the cold though. That never helps.

    3. I was overwhelmed by the webinar this week myself. Kinda felt blindsided by the cross reactive possibilities. Certainly could relate to his mention of "not wanting to know." That's where I'm at with that right now for sure. Maybe next year if I'm still not well by then.

    4. Jeannete,
I am a mixed type so any helpful recipes would be appreciated.

    5. Hi Denise -- I'm a mixed type too! I'm wondering if you could tell me how you made your split pea soup. I want to make some! Do you put any ham in it? (I haven't found any yet that are "organic".)

I have been making a chicken soup (this week I will lower the amount of chicken, of course) with carrots, celery, leeks (or onions), DILL (which makes it taste really good!), celery salt, sea salt, pepper, a little garlic, coriander, and olive oil. When it's done, I add some cut up avocado.

Another thing I've made is salmon baked in foil (again, I suppose we would have this less often). I cut up pieces of salmon into about 1 and 1/2 to 2" strips, drizzle with olive oil, add some pitted kalamata olives, crushed garlic or garlic salt, again dill (fresh if you can), and lemons (juice and cut lemons). Wrap it all up in foil (each piece separately). Bake in oven (I have tried anywhere from 375-425) for 15-20 mins or so and then for the last 5-6 mins, I open up the foil packets and put them in the broiler. I eat this with lots of veggies -- like kale or brocolli - that I also cook with garlic, olive oil and sea salt.

Last one -- nothing special but it tastes good -- I like salads with celery and carrots and cucumber with avocado, olive oil, vinegar and chia seeds. (definitely needs salt and pepper) and then I add my organic (no preservatives) bacon to it.

I also tried a stir-fry with organic chicken strips (again, we could limit the chicken), bok choy, brocollini (the Chinese brocolli), water chestnuts, carrots, onions (if you like them) - stir fried in olive oil with a little vinegar and ginger. -- Again, nothing special...

I'm in a rut though, I need some new ideas! Your pea soup sounded great!!

  6. I need some recipes also. PLEASE. I am going to try split pea soup this weekend.

    1. I've been eating a mix of black and pinto beans with some chili type spices, with stir fried peppers and onions, chopped fresh cilantro, jalapenos, avocado and black olives. It only holds me for an hour or so, but at least it tastes wonderful.

      Delete
    2. I like to cook shrimp in coconut milk (or use coconut butter thinned with hot water) with ginger and lemongrass. This goes great alongside green beans or asparagus sauteed or poached with garlic. No need for half an avocado when you use the coconut butter - it's rich and satisfying.

  8. One more question.. I thought the Ultra D was 2 teaspoons, twice a day. (I know you mentioned a typo on the webinar). Or is it one teaspoon twice a day now?

    1. You are correct. It was my typo that is now corrected. Two teaspoons twice per day.

  9. I noticed that on info that came with our supplements it said to limit our proteins to specific proteins (chicken, lamb, turkey...). Are you wanting us to limit our protein consumption to the ones stated or just limit the protein in general?

Thanks!! Wishing everyone a loving day tomorrow! I think we're all doing some major loving of ourselves by doing this cleanse! Glad to be a part of such a loving group of people! Cheers (with water!)!

    ReplyDelete
  10. No, just proteins in general in this phase. Be sure that you are still maintaining balance though. One of our Protein Types crashed and burned today with the protein restriction.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wide awake at midnight - not good.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I am a protein type and I'm starving to death all day again, even with the addition of some meat (turkey/chicken) twice per day (down from 5x.) Tomorrow I'll try having the clearvite with food instead of as food and see if that helps.

As for the clearvite tasting bad, I realized finally that it is already way too sweet, so adding blueberries just made it worse. Today I put only spinach and avocado and coconut milk and it was much better. Tomorrow I'll throw a green bean in it, too, and see how that goes.

    ReplyDelete
  13. So, aside from being awake at 1am, I'm having trouble gauging how I'm feeling lately. As one indicator, my whole house is clean for the first time since this program started, that is progress for sure.

When it was time to put foods back in, I did it totally wrong and I added every kind of pepper and every kind of bean all at once. So I've been bloated and gassy. One night my stomach looked about 6 months pregnant. Tonight I'm not bloated at all and I ate beans all day. Maybe it's not all beans? Maybe it's how they are cooked?

I am not wanting to hear the idea that I might not be able to eat beans anymore.
So I am not sure how to proceed. During this time of no or reduced meat, I'll eat beans just to survive. Later though I think I'll have to revert back to week 3 and start over with adding foods, one per week.
Should I then add only one bean type at a time?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So glad to know I'm not the only one that suddenly looked majorly pregnant! Also a protein type and it is definitely hard to lower the protein... it's only for a short amount of time thankfully!

      Delete
    2. First off Louanna, it is not OK to add peppers as of yet but the beans are OK. As far as cooking beans is concerned, it is always a good idea to soak them overnight prior to cooking to break down the enzyme inhibitors. It is important for us all to recognize that there are other triggers for inflammation also. One of the big ones is stress. Any one of us may recognize that on very stressful days, the stomach will tend to bloat.

I would suggest to get your focus back on the allowable/avoidance food list plus beans. I would leave out the other grains at this point.

      Delete
    3. Regarding not knowing how you are feeling, I'm wondering if you ever journal? it helps me. (I should do it more often!)

      Delete
    4. Glen, I don't have the brochure in front of me but it's obvious now I do not understand how to read it. Peppers were printed on the avoid list for the first three weeks, and removed from the avoid list the last three weeks, this I can remember. So I've been blowing it totally since week 4. I've been trying SO hard to stick to this to the letter, wanting to get the most out of my investment on every level....I hope the inclusion of peppers didn't negate too much.
      Sigh.

  14. I'm protein-type and last week I cut back my meat consumption by 1/2. I tried one of my meals yesterday without meat (ClearVite, raw baby spinach and olives) and was starving in 30 minutes. I had a snack of raw baby spinach and olives, but that didn't last. Added chicken thigh to dinner. We were traveling all day and by the time I got to hotel at 10pm I was starving and ordered a beef patty and dill pickles (I know, pickles aren't optimal)...ended up eating about 6 meals yesterday, so I think back to 3-4 small meat-containing meals for me.

  16. I feel the same way Louanna. I am overwhelmed by the possibility of cross reaction food. I was so crabby yesterday because I just don't know what to eat anymore.

    1. Yes, the awareness that the food we typically consume is actually hurting us, can be challenging. Continue to focus on the allowable/avoidance food list at this time. If you feel a drain on energy with less protein, increase this accordingly. We'll talk soon.

  17. Glen,
I got on the scale this morning and i have only lost 1/2 lb this week. I didn't lose anything last week so I am feeling frustrated. At least when I was losing weight it made eating the vegetables worth while. I do not have any energy and my body still aches( not as bad as that one day 2 weeks ago) but achey all the time. Also, I still have the brain fog. What do I need to do?

Chuck has been having pain in his stomach. He says its like someone punched him in the gut. It goes away to a dull ache after a while. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Clearvite?

    1. This is likely tied into the liver cleanse. If it is too intense have him stop for one day and then go back to half the dose of the Hepato Synergy and the full Clearvite protocol after the one day.

  19. Glen - How can I take these new homeopathic medications if I am REALLY sensitive to alcohol? I tried them today - straight under my tongue and got a little headache within a few minutes and some sinus swelling (which is what happens to me whenever I have anything with alcohol in it).

I understand you can dilute them in a glass of warm water, but I heard this can reduce the effectiveness of the medication. Also have heard you can literally put the entire bottle in a glass with warm water (open bottle) -- but obviously so the water doesn't get in -- and that will get the alcohol to evaporate.

Need to know if you think they are still effective this way -- or should I "tough it out" and try to live with the headaches and sinus swelling while taking them.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Definitely do not "tough it out." You could drop these in a small spoonful of hot water for a few moments before taking. Please be sure that the water is not scolding hot though, for the obvious reason of then putting this in your mouth.

  20. FYI on the cross reaction testing. The test will still provide the correct response if you have been off the food for 6 weeks. If you start to get to the 6 month range, this could be questionable.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Everybody, please remember that if the decreased protein intake is diminishing your energy to significantly, increase this as needed.

  22. Just to make sure: we increase ClearVite to 3 times a day and leave Hepato Synergy at twice daily?

  23. Happy Valentines Day everyone!!!

Hmmmmm....I'm feeling low energy on edge and angry. This is not good or fun on "V" Day right "LOL" 2 more weeks Eish......... Hang in there everyone!

    1. Interestingly enough, the liver ties into the emotion of anger, so when we are cleansing the liver some old suppressed anger may show its ugly fact. This is not uncommon.

    2. I noticed I was very cranky for no reason all last weekend.

    3. Nice to know the anger is in the liver! I've been blaming it on PMS. My husband said, "for two weeks?!"
I have definitely been more angry since the beginning of week 5. He'll be glad to know why. Thanks for sharing that one!

  24. Glen.. Oh no... I'm starting to gain my weight back! It seems to have started when we "upped" the Clearvite. Two things - I have definitely limited my animal protein and amount of food and also I have NOT added any new "allowable" foods yet. I have been staying on the plan - no cheating.

What's weird is that every time I've tried to use a protein powder/meal substitute in the past, they have always made me gain weight! I had a liquid diet for weeks after my jaw surgery and couldn't believe I even gained weight on a liquid diet! Anyway... it's making me nervous. I was doing so well. It doesn't look like bloating - so that's why I'm concerned.

Has anyway ever gained weight from the Clearvite? Any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I meant -- anyone --not anyway : )

      Delete
    2. I would not be concerned about a small fluctuation in weight. This is actually normal. Sometimes it water weight, could be tied into acute inflammation and a host of other reasons.

Please let me know if this continues though.

      Delete
    3. Glen - Yes, the weight GAIN is continuing and it's discouraging me because I've worked so hard to lose it! I had lost about 11 pounds and since we upped the clearvite, I added back 3 (which is a good chunk of what I lost : ( The only time I ate any fruit in the last two weeks was on the first day after week 4 and that's it. I have lowered my animal protein and kept strickly to the plan as well. As I mentioned before, I have gained weight on pea protein before. This does not feel like water weight and overall I don't feel "bad" or angry or anything. I just feel bad that I'm gaining my weight back!! Please advise.

      Delete
    4. I would suggest increasing your animal protein up to the level you were on previously. This is likely the biggest issue. There is a slight chance that peas would be an issue but let's try the protein first.

      Delete
    5. I also want to congratulate you on the 11 pounds lost. That is awesome!

Don't get too emotional with the 3 pounds though. Remember that stress is a trigger for inflammation and weight gain.

You are completely doing the right thing though by letting me know what is going on so this can be addressed.

      Delete
    6. Hey Glen - OK.. I did up the protein, but since I have kidney stones, I was a little concerned about excess uric acid from the Clearvite PLUS the additional protein, so I just cut back on the Clearvite as well -- and guess what? I lost the 3 pounds and maybe one more! I know we all are different and I'm thinking my body just (for some reason) metabolizes the Clearvite in a way that either slows me down a bit or turns it into fat or something. I'm still taking 1 1/2 scoops a day, but I feel like 1 might even be better for me. After I drink it I feel sluggish and heavy if that tells you anything. But anyway... the good news is added protein and a little less Clearvite is what seemed to really help me. Hope that's OK!

      Delete
    7. It is important to honor your body's ability to handle the Clearvite, so no worries with the 1 1/2 scoops. As far as protein and kidneys is concerned this is only an issue with individuals that have very poor kidney function. Look in the toilet after you urinate. If there are excessive bubbles, this would show us something.

  25. Out and about today but we were still able to follow the plan. We stopped and had Kobe burgers without the bun, avocado instead of cheese and as a treat, some sweet potato fries. No the fries were not optimal but the first and only time during the program that this will happen.

  31. Glen, where are you finding this food when you go out? For instance, chili made without tomatoes and peppers? I haven't been able to find anything like that! And most places I've gone to don't have organic meat and they don't cook with olive oil. I really need some advice because when I'm back in California, I won't have a kitchen again until we find a place to live and I really had a hard time finding places to eat last time. 32. Congrats everyone...there are only 10 days left. It is important to start creating your mindset for what you are going to upon completion of the program. One mindset to make sure you lose if you have it, is that you simply go back to what you did before the program. What you did in the past lead to weight gain, inches gained, inflammation and other symptoms. Since we know that did not work, something different is needed.

Some people may need supplementation for a bit longer, some may benefit from the cross reactive testing while many would benefit from understanding adrenal balance.

We will begin discussing this on Tuesday and we will have a wrap up webinar when the program is over.

  34. From up north, I am feeling very depressed today and have zero energy. I am generally pretty active and did a 2 hour walk yesterday so wonder if that is why I feel so low but also wonder if it could be the detox. I have had lots of energy throughout the cleanse - this is the first time I have felt like this. Just want to curl up and be left alone.

In terms of weight loss, I have cut fruit except for several slices of frozen peach in the Clearvite to make it palatable. I started at 155 and am at 150 but this is still within the range that I fluctuate in so it doesn't feel very significant. I saw 148 one day but then it went back to 150 so it is a bit discouraging.

    1. Hello Joie,

First of all I want to ask you to pay attention to your body when it tells you to curl up and be left alone. Especially when you are in a liver detoxifying cleanse.

While I understand your discouragement five pounds is still a good start with ten days left to go. I have high hopes for you as we reach the home stretch.

  35. One point I would like to make for everyone. I have had more than a few mention the challenges with taking the Repairvite during the stomach protocol and now the Clearvite during the liver protocol. The challenges I am referring to is with the taste. The taste itself if rather neutral to most, so the question to ask yourself if this is a challenge for you is, do you depend on sugar or other flavor stimulants on a regular basis? Often we destroy our palate with sugar or food chemicals and we have to retrain the palate. This will be important to address in the next couple of webinars.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Today for a tasty treat we sliced plantains and a pear and fried these in coconut oil. Finished this off with some cinnamon and a spoonful of the coconut spread and it was amazing. Just had to have something besides meat and veggies today. I am sure you get that.

  38. I have found that rice is fine for me. Oats might be a challenge. The only reason I'm not sure is that I had some salad from a buffet at an event I was attending. It wasn't until I was serving it that I noticed a few croutons in the salad. The next day, I noticed a slight swelling of my right hand (something I've noticed occasionally in the past few months). I'm not sure if it's the gluten (only 1 gram, or 1/90th of a regular slice of bread is needed to get a reaction!) or the oats or both. I'll have to revisit oats later when I've been away from bread for a few weeks.

Has anyone else added non-gluten grains this week? Any challenges?

    1. I am a bit confused, did you mention yesterday that you lost 5 pounds. Regardless, it is important to note that there are still 8 days left and a lot can happen during this time. Eliminate fruit during this time and I would expect some positive changes. Fruit during the cold winters also goes against any thoughts of warming and cooling foods in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We will talk more about weight loss tonight.

    2. To clarify, I started at 155 and have glimpsed 148 (briefly) but today was back at 151. I do seem to have lost some girth - I guess with full compliance I thought the results would be more dramatic - this is 10 pounds I have tried to lose over the past 5 years with no success and I had high hopes. Aside from cutting fruit, I am not sure what else to do - am trying to do the Nutritional Id proportions. ONe thing is that I still had a good appetite even drinking the Clearvite so with the exception of breakfast, I have continued to eat a meal at lunch and dinner. Is some of this that the last 10 pounds are the hardest??? That is all I really wanted to lose. I will look forward to tonight's webinar.

    3. Hopefully the webinar today will help you. I would strongly suggest addressing adrenal function if you do not find improved results over the next week. Keep me updated on your progress.

  42. Glen, I'm wondering if the ClearVite is stable in hot water i.e. ClearVite Green Tea Latte?? :-D

    1. I would not recommend this. The heat will degrade the nutrients.

  44. This morning we cooked bacon and used the bacon grease to cook crushed garlic, chopped green onion and kale. This was an amazing breakfast.
